Hypnotherapy is recognised by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) as an effective short term treatment for many different issues, however, it is often misunderstood and seen and some kind of mystical and magical process. I can assure you that this certainly isn't the case! 

Hypnotherapy works by relaxing the conscious part of our brains allowing access to the subconscious, the part of the brain that forms our beliefs, habits and automatic behaviour.   Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy focuses of how we think and feel, and how that impacts on our behaviour. It is a modern, scientific and evidence based approach.  I work in a friendly, patient and relaxed manner, and the focus of each session is working towards achieving each client's own goals, and for them to develop a greater sense of awareness through the power of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy,  Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness. I believe it is essential to treat everyone as an individual as different things work for different people. 

In the first session we complete a health questionaire, and therapy contract, and of course you will have plenty of time to speak about your issue/s, and what you would like to achieve through Hypnotherapy.  I spent time explaining how I work, and what you can expect from your sessions, and will answer any questions you may have. I will teach you a technique that you can start to use straight away.  Once we have done all of this you will be able to sample hypnosis. I teach people to become more aware of how they  think, how this affects their feelings, and consequently how this determins how we behave. 

Sessions will include mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy, a wide variety of practical coping techniques, self hypnosis, and of course, hypnosis. Where appropriate you will also receive recordings to listen to between sessions, and the techniques that you learn can also be used between sessions, and, if needed once treatment has finished. You will also recieve a detailed follow up e-mail after each session with a recap of what we covered, and support between sessions, including a recording of hypnosis.  

I have a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy awarded by the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. I am an accredited member of the following organisations; the National Council of Hypnotherapy (NCH), The Hypnotherapy Directory, and The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).  I have an enhanced DBS certificate. I also have Counselling and Psychology qualifications, and an extensive background (over 20 years) in adult social care (mental health, learning disabilities, and advocacy).

"Anxiety had crippled my life for as long as I can remember. Mindfulness

In a busy world we can often get caught up in the stress of day to day life, we rush around without really noticing how we are feeling.

What is Mindfulness? In a nutshell Mindfulness is a simple meditation, focusing on the present moment with acceptance of the here and now, acknowledging your thoughts, feelings and and how your body is feeling at that time.


Stress and Anxiety

Stress is something that everyone experiences at some point in thier lives, and in a mild form can be a part of everyday life. Life can be very stressful at times, this can be for a variety of reasons such as work / college related issues, relationships, finance worries,  illness, bereavement, fear, lack of confidence, not living the life you want to be living right now.

 


ME / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

M.E (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), also known as Chronic Fatigue (C.F.S) has a wide variety of symptoms including,  exhaustion that does not improve with rest or sleep, muscle and joint pain, insomnia or sleeping too much, cognitive issues / brain fog, stomach problems, headaches, and depression (often as a result of the symptoms of this illness).

We all know that smoking is bad for our health, however due to the addictiveness of this habit, it can be hard to give up without help. Giving up smoking greatly improves your health, it makes you look and smell better, gives you more energy, helps you live longer, and protects the health of your children, family and friends.
