Hello, and welcome to my website! If you have a question, or can't see what you are looking for, please don't hesitiate to contact me on, 07970 553752, or at info@kmhypnotherapy.co.uk. Please scroll to the bottom of the page for client testimonials.

Many issues can be helped by Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, including; stress, anxiety, low self confidence, insomina, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), phobias, unhelpful habits (nail biting / smoking etc), sexual issues, exam nerves, birthing concerns, fear of change, sports performance, hair pulling (Trichotillomania), skin picking (Dermatillomania), loss and bereavement, confusion, weight loss, deep relaxation, and so much more.  I specialise in working with people who are suffering with anxiety, this can often be a big part of many of these issues I have just have listed above.

Hypnotherapy is recognised by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) as an effective short term treatment for many different issues, however it is often misunderstood and seen and some kind of mystical and magical process. I can assure you that this certainly isn't the case!  Hypnotherapy works by relaxing the conscious part of our brains allowing access to the subconscious, the part of the brain that forms our beliefs, habits and behaviour.   Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy focuses of how we think and feel, and how that impacts on our behaviour. It is a modern, scientific and evidence based approach.  I work in a friendly, patient and relaxed manner, and the focus of each session is working towards achieving each client's own goals, and for them to develop a greater sense of awareness through the power of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy,  Hypnotherapy and Mindfulness. I believe it is essential to treat everyone as an individual as different things work for different people.  In the first session (the initial consultation) we complete a health questionaire, and therapy contract, and of course you will have plenty of time to speak about your issue/s, and what you would like to achieve through Hypnotherapy.  I spent time explaining how I work, and what you can expect from your sessions, and will answer any questions you may have.  Once we have done all of this you will be able to sample hypnosis. I teach people to become more aware of how they  think, how this affects their feelings, and consequently how this determins how we behave.  Sessions will include mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy, a wide variety of practical coping techniques, self hypnosis, and of course, hypnosis. Where appropriate you will also receive recordings to listen to between sessions, and the techniques that you learn can also be used between sessions, and, if needed once treatment has finished. You will also recieve a follow up e-mail after each session with a recap of what we covered, and support between sessions at no extra cost.

I have a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy awarded by the UK College of Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy. This qualification is accredited by the National Council of Hypnotherapy, The General Hypnotherapy Register, and the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council. I am also member of the National Council of Hypnotherapy, The General Hypnotherapy Register, The Hypnotherapy Directory, and The Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council.  I have an enhanced DBS certificate. I also have Counselling and Psychology qualifications, and an extensive background (15 years) in adult social care (mental health, learning disabilities, and advocacy).

If you would like to talk to me to see if Hypnotherapy could help you, please feel free to contact me. I will be happy to contact you for a free, no obligation chat to discuss your issues in more detail, and to explain a little more about how I work and what you can expect from a session.  If you would prefer not to speak on the phone, please contact me via text, or e-mail with any questions you may have, or to book a session. E-mail: info@kmhypnotherapy.co.uk / 07970 553752.

Testimonials
"Anxiety had crippled my life for as long as I can remember. Fear of a wide variety of everyday supposedly 'enjoyable' situations ranging from parties, to taking the kids swimming would send me into a spiral of anxiety and depression, sometimes coming close to making me physically sick from the stress.  I had always tried to hide the fear, acting as confident as possible, and avoiding the situations I dreaded. I was basically papering over the cracks in my life.   Once the kids were of a certain age it became impossible to avoid all the situations I feared.  Hypnotherapy had been recommended to me in the past, but I have always been the biggest sceptic going, and had always dismissed the idea, then I met Kate.  I booked an appointment and the usual anxiety kicked in the week before our meeting.  Not only did I leave my first session realising my anxiety was unfounded, I left my first session feeling genuinely elated, refreshed, and confident. I cannot stress how great the difference was after just one session.  After three sessions I had to go to a party, the kind of party that would normally send me stressing out, but this time it was different.  I not only got through the party, I actually enjoyed it!  I started conversations with people,( something I would never normally do).  I also had a smile on my face, instead of the usual uncomfortable frown.  Kate is a very likeable person and incredibly easy to talk to, she is very understanding, and I would recommend her to anyone.  In a nutshell, hypnotherapy worked for me". Pete.(3 sessions)

"The positive changes were so deeply embedded they have affected areas of my life that I hadn't recognised were being impacted by my negative issues. I've been deighted by all the changes which are still evolving.  Many, many  thanks".  Pamela. (3 sessions)

" I had never experienced Hypnotherapy before attending sessions with Kate.  I found her very easy to talk to and she explained each part of the treatment clearly, continuing to put me at my ease as the appointments progressed.  I found the whole experience very relaxing and it has helped me to come to terms with my particular issues and has given me the confidence to continue working on my own to overcome them fully." Jane.(3 sessions)

" I have suffered for many years on and off with anxiety.  In the past I have taken antidepressants, which have worked for me, but this time it was different.  I woke one morning in the early hours and my heart was fluttering uncontrollably, and I panicked! I saw my Doctor, and was told nothing was wrong, but it left me with no confidence, and I was afraid to do anything, even everyday chores, and  I couldn't go anywhere without panicking. I was also unable to have a good nights sleep!  I was given sleeping pills, and antidepressants again, but needed something else.  Kate was recommended to me by someone I know. I was at first unsure if Hypnotherapy would work for me, but I gave it a go.  After seeing her for the first time, I found her very easy to talk to - and about anything, and she has a very calming voice!  I had 7 sessions with Kate, and she has made me feel important again, and I have more confidence.  I now keep myself busy.  I would definitely recommend Kate.  Thank you Kate". Sue (7 sessions)

""Hypnotherapy has definitely, without doubt helped me with my issues.  Hypnotherapy is incredible with the right therapist. When with Kate Middleton, I liked everything about her.  Firstly I have to say I saw two other Therapists before Kate, just to get  a feel for it.  I will say they were good and understanding, but Kate is brilliant, in her company you feel at ease straight away.  Kate's voice is soothing but her best quality is that she probably doesnt realise how special she is.  Kate can adapt to any situation with a solution to a particular point in the sessions.  Kate's knowledge is so in depth and that rubs off on you because of her enthusiasm.  Kate loves her job, and that makes you want to go back.  I found the Mindfulness really helps you feel under a spell in a nice relaxed way.  I would recommend Kate to anyone even with the tiniest of issues.  You will be so glad to meet her.  Kate is a warm and caring person with only her patients needs at heart.  Give her a call, its the best advice I can give." (Male, anxiety, sexual confusion - 6 sessions)

" I found Kate at the right time! Nothing was working anymore and I couldn't find a way of helping myself.  Kate offered me her time, her advice, and the most useful thing that stuck in my mind was "you can do it!"  I've changed some of my habits but mostly I have started thinking about myself and I am listening to my body more! Actually very often if not all the time!  Every week I loose weight and I'm pretty sure it will keep dropping.  I am very grateful to Kate for her time and her help,  seeing Kate was the best and valuble "me time" I decided to offer myself! (Female, weight loss - 2 sessions)

"I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) in January 2016 and have suffered with depression and anxiety as a result of feeling so unwell.  I came across Kate's Hypnotherapy services, and I am so glad and grateful that I did.  Before meeting Kate I was running on empty and lost myself trying to please others whilst feeling so poorly.  I was anxious about how being unwell was affecting others around me,and would let others drain all my energy.  Kate taught me the importance of self care, and really worked on my assertiveness and confidence through hypnosis.  I eventually felt able to say no to certain people and situations without feeling guilty.  Guilt was a big part of my life as I almost felt guilty for having CF, or for letting people down. Now I have learnt to put myself and my health first.  I allow myself to rest when I need it and generally listen to my body more.  I even realised that I needed to get out of a job that was not serving me.  Before Hypnotherapy sessions I had little enjoyment, energy or positivity in my life and now I am able to enjoy life without nasty emotional burdens.  I used to get quite bad anxiety about socialising or events as I felt this was soaking up my resting time.  However, now I am able to enjoy things a lot more, I am able to socialise without worrying so much in advance.  I have also learnt about relaxation and mindfulness techniques to afterwards to re-group and rest after an event.  Although, of course I am not "cured" of CFS I feel so much stronger and more confident to manage the condition and adapt my life to suit me.  I feel in a much better place to cope with being unwell.  Kate is a great listener and offers a friendly, non judgemental approach, and really useful kind advice.  Before going into hypnosis we would have a catch up about the past week, and how I was feeling and anything I wanted to work on. However, Kate was amazing at knowing the path we needed to take for me to feel the benefits. Some of the hypnosis was catered especially to me (*all hypnosis is especially tailored to each individual) which made the experience really personal.  I also learned mindfulness techniques and how to apply these to my daily life.  I have learnt to live in the moment which is very important with CFS and anxiety.  This is experience was also helped by Kate being such a lovely, warm, and kind person and I cannot thank her enough for her help" . Female CFS / anxiety / low mood.

" I decided to have Hypnotherapy to help me to prepare for the birth of my first child.  Kate listened to my concerns and tailored sessions to address these.  Through both discussion and focused Hypntherapy sessions I've felt myself grow in confidence and calmness, as well as learning really practical management techniques for when I'm in labour.  I've found the sessions to be highly effective and would definitely recommend Kate and Hypnotherapy".  Female, labour / birth anxiety. (3 sessions).

"I have found it very rewarding to work with Kate Middleton.  She is not just kind and empathic, but also very conscientious and professional in her approach; it's evident how deeply she cares for her profession and her clients.  Her breadth of knowledge is impressive, and she draws on a wide range of techniques and treatments designed to meet the needs of each individual needs of each patient.  I would warmly recommend Kate to anyone who feels hypnotherapy could benefit their lives."  Male, sleep issues and anxiety.

" When I first went to Kate I was a different version of myself, suffering with compulsive skin picking, and overwhelmed by emotions and negative thoughts.  I have seen 2 other therapists however this was the only type of therapy that has benefited me massively.  Throughout my time with Kate I have changed so much I am unrecognisable to the person I was back in Novemeber 2017.  Kate's method of CBT and Hypnotherapy has helped change the way my brain works, something I thought before was simply impossible, and something I would have to deal with for the rest of my life.  Although I am still with Kate, I see her less often, and I have improved so much that I cannot thank / recommend her enough".  Female, compulsive skin picking, low mood, OCD, anxiety.

Testimonials from Mindfulness / Relaxation groups

"
Mindfulness with KM Hypnotherapy was great combination of different ideas, and techniques.  Something to suit everyone.  Kate is extremely knowledgeable and professional, as well as being very approachable, so I felt at ease throughout.  Thoroughly recommended".

"Anxiety has been an issue for a while but the sessions helped me learn techniques to manage my emotions, whilst meeting others who feel the same.  Kate makes you feel at ease and allows everyone to feel more comfortable with themselves."

"Kate manages to put you at ease from the moment you meet her.  She is non judgemental but listens and challenges people to get to the root cause of issues.  She helps to find tailored techniques for individuals to help themselves. I wanted the course to go on for longer! - Excellent value for money.".

More Information

Mindfulness

In a busy world we can often get caught up in the stress of day to day life, we rush around without really noticing how we are feeling.

What is Mindfulness? In a nutshell Mindfulness is a simple meditation, focusing  on the present moment with acceptance of the here and now, acknowledging your thoughts, feelings and and how your body is feeling at that time.

Stress and Anxiety

Stress is something that everyone experiences at some point in thier lives, and in a mild form can be a part of everyday life. Life can be very stressful at times, this can be for a variety of reasons such as work / college related issues, relationships, finance worries,  illness, bereavement, fear, lack of confidence, not living the life you want to be living right now.

ME / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

M.E (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis), also known as Chronic Fatigue (C.F.S) has a wide variety of symptoms including,  exhaustion that does not improve with rest or sleep, muscle and joint pain, insomnia or sleeping too much, cognitive issues / brain fog, stomach problems, headaches, and depression (often as a result of the symptoms of this illness).

Insomnia and Lack of Sleep

If you are not getting enough sleep you are likely to feel drained, exhausted and irritable. Lack of sleep can have a profound affect on your physical and mental health, affecting every area of your life.

Smoking

We all know that smoking is bad for our health, however due to the addictiveness of this habit, it can be hard to give up without help. Giving up smoking greatly improves your health, it makes you look and smell better, gives you more energy, helps you live longer, and protects the health of your children, family and friends. It will also save you a great deal of money!
